The Challenge! Tiger Woods will take place at the Miki-shi (Miki City) in Hyōgo-ken (Hyōgo Prefecture) on the same course where the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Japanese Ladies Masters is played. Woods will play nine holes against Koga Miho, Morimizato Shinobu and Kitada Rui (surnames first).
Tiger Woods previously played at this same course back in 2006 for a charity event to help promote youth golf in Japan. It was at this tournament that Woods first met Nobuta Kunio, the president of the Nobuta Group who own and operate the Masters Golf Club.
Nobuta and Woods had kept in touch over the years, and it was a no-brainer for Woods to accept Nobuta's invitation to participate in another charity event to help this year's Japan earthquake and tsunami victims.
And while Woods has slipped all the way down to 49th in World Rankings, he is still the number one draw in golf. When he plays, people from all walks watch... less so when he isn't involved.
As such, this may not be a walk in the park for Woods in this tourney - Koga Miho won the Japanese Ladies Masters on this course back in 2006 and 2007. Woods, however, does possess 73 PGA Tour wins, 38 European Tour wins and 2 on the Japan Golf Tour - and the fact he only has two Japan wins may be due to the fact he doesn't play here as often.
