Potter Engorgio!
If you are a Harry Potter fan, you probably can figure out that the spell I wrote above means: 'Potter enlarge', which means: "Potter swell in size".
And that's what's happening with the Harry Potter franchise, as Warner Bros. and Universal Studios are teaming up to bring "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" theme park to the Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan.
Universal Studios Japan should begin construction on its version of the attraction in the next few weeks with a target launch date of late 2014.
"The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" will include a reconstruction of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as well as the tourist trap Hogsmeade Village, and will offer rides and themed food.
While we are sure there will be a roller coaster somewhere, Japan - It's A Wonderful Rife can only hope that they will offer the visitor a chance to get some butterbeer (with a side order of anti-cholesterol pills) and some real Berti Bott's Every Flavour Beans (though I'm sure I could do without the ear wax flavor). I would also like to play a game of quidditch and do some major snogging with Padma Patil. Joseph Engorgio!
"Universal Studios Japan is thrilled to be chosen to make the Harry Potter experience come alive for the people of Japan," says Universal Studios Japan president and chief executive officer Glen Gumpel. "USJ will recreate to the highest level of authenticity, 'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.'"
It will come as no surprise, but the Harry Potter franchise is huge in Japan, having grossed $893-million at the box office.
"'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter' is an entirely new level of themed entertainment that brings the stories of Harry Potter to life in incredible ways. It will forever change tourism, not only in Kansai but throughout Japan," notes Michael Silver, president of global business development for Universal Parks & Resorts.
