I have tried - perhaps successfully -to present the readers of this blog as accurate a dialogue as possible about a myriad of subjects and topics, even if that sounds redundant.
Specifically, a vast majority of the stories have surrounded Japan's crisis following the March 11, 2011 9.0 Magnitude earthquake, the tsunami caused by the earthquake, and the near nuclear meltdowns caused by loss of power to the facility after the tsunami crashed into it.
With the help of my great friend Matthew Hall, whom I first met in Japan back in 1990, I would like to share with you an article written by Eliza Strickland and presented for IEEE Spectrum magazine's November 2011 cover story.
It appeared on-line a couple of days ago, and offers up some great readable details on what happened in the first 24 hours of the earthquake shaking the very foundations of the northeast coast of Japan on that fateful day - specifically, just what went on at the Dai-ichi (Big One) TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company)-owned nuclear power facility in Fukushima-ken (Fukushima Prefecture).
It's a very long piece and has some great information presented in a clear manner that I am sure you will all find extremely interesting.
Please have a read HERE, and be sure to visit the IEE Spectrum magazine website at www.spectrum.ieee.org.
