Hi there!
Here's a very interesting post from my friend Mike Rogers over at Marketing Japan, a great blog you should read everyday along with my own.
This blog of Mike's has everything I find interesting about Japan: ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock prints), prostitutes, and catfish. Oh yeah, and how there's one particular catfish that causes earthquakes.
Read Mike's blog HERE. Some pretty awesome artwork, eh? When Mike talks about catfish and prostitutes in the first picture - click on the picture and see just what is wearing a yukata (men's kimono)... it has a funny looking head and whiskers!
As well, should you be so inclined, you may want to check out the blog I wrote a couple of days after the big earthquake last year about the catfish that causes earthquakes HERE, as well as about how a catfish APP can predict earthquakes to give you a brief warning to kiss your ass goodbye: HERE.
Oh... and in the image above... that's a print by the great ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797-1861) that shows a tanuki (raccoon dog-like creature) using his testicles to smack the earthquake-causing catfish on the head with his testicles. Yes... with his testicles. Don't mess with a tanuki!
Say what you want about Japan and its love affair with robots, prostitutes and Godzilla, but they sure do know their mythology!
Cheers
Andrew Joseph
