Barcelona Defeats Al Sadd at FIFA Club World Cup

It wasn't even close.

Barcelona, arguably the worlds-best football club in 2011 defeated Al-Sadd of Qatar in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup by a score of 4-0 on December 15, 2011 at Yokohama, Japan.

Barcelona will now face Brazil's Santos FC in the final on December 18, 2011. 

Barcelona's Adriano scored twice in the first half.

In the 25th minute Adriano scored after Al-Sadd keeper Mohamed Saqr failed to properly handle  a pass back to him by a defender. Forced to play it with his feet, Adriano raced in a tapped the ball into the net.

He added to Barcelona's leadin the 43rd minute when he rifled a leftie from insode the box.

Keita scored in the 64th minute after a beautiful pass from Lionel Messi. Keita pushed the ball to the left of the keeper and in.

Supoer-sub Maxwell closed out the scoring in the 81st minute bouncing a left footer off the Al-Sadd keeper.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola summed up nicely: We did not give Al-Sadd a chance. That means the defense was well-organized and our defenders had quick counter-attack abilities. 

Despite being dominated, Al-Sadd coach Jorge Fosatti was proud, "Nobody wants to lose, especially 4-0. But when you play a team like Barcelona, this can happen. I am still proud of my players.

Barcelona, despite the win, had some bad news as forward David Villa broke his left leg tibia in the 37th minute.

To settle the tourney's third-place, Al-Sadd will now play against J-League champs and host nation Kashiwa Reysol on December 18, 2011 prior to the finals match between Santos FC and Barcelona FC.
