Well, well, well... Kashiwa Reysol... the 2011 J-League champs have defeated New Zealand's Auckland City in the preliminary draw of the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2011 being held right now in Japan!
Kashima scord twice in three minutes in the first-half of the match for a 2-0 victory at Toyota Stadium with goals from Tanaka Junya and Kudo Masato (surname first).
After a near goal in the 4th minute, Aucklan played smart and was not troubled much. But, all of the sudden, Reysol took the lead in the 37th minute when Tanaka spun away from two Auckland defenders at the edge of the box and fired a leftie past keeper Jacob Spoonley at the near post.
Three minutes later in the 40th minute Kudo pounced on a Sakai Hiroki header that had bounced off the post smashing it high into the net from close-range.
Just before the half ended, Kashiwa's Leandro Domingues missed a chip past the far post after a beautiful pass from fellow Brazilian Jorge Wagner.
In the second half, Auckland began pressing its attack with Reysol spending most of the match defending. Auckland nearly made it close in the 57th minute, but Manel Exposito put a colley just over the bar from a quickly-taken free-kick.
In the 70th minute Exposito was at it again, but a soft chip had Reysol keeper Sugeno Takanori leaping high to get his fingers to place the ball up on top of the net.
Kashiwa will now play Mexico's Monterrey (the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League) on December 11, 2011.
