I'd like to share a lik to my friend Peter Able's blog Living and Teaching in Japan.
In this, his most recent blog, Peter writes about how disgusting Natto is. Natto is essentially a type of soy bean... but in this case, it is allowed to ferment, to create a sticky, smelly and horrible tasting legume that is so incredibly good for you. As well... the Japanese know the average gaijin (foreigner) won't eat it. In fact... from what I understand, natto is equally detested by gaijin and western Japan alike.
Well, you know what? I like natto. There... I said it, and I meant it. At the end of Peter's blog, I wrote an LOC (letter of comment) about natto.
HERE's Peter's blog.
As well... here's a blog I wrote back on July 7, 2010 about the first time I ate natto. Revelations galore - and not the end of the world prophecy type of revelations either! read it here: STICKY.
I still may be the only gaijin to have ever eaten natto when he didn't have to.
