Japan Society of New York To Hold Open House

The Japan Society down in New York, New York, the city so great they had to name it twice, is holding an open house weekend on May 5 & 6, 2012 to celebrate its building's 40th anniversary and landmark status.

The Japan Society building in New York City.
Events include free movie screenings, complimentary to Deco Japan (you look mahvelous!), tours of the exhibit and building, craft activities for kids, introductory Japanese language classes, shodo classes (that's Japanese caligraphy!), snacks and much, much more.

Films include:
Godzilla - not the great version from the 1990s, but the totally awesome original one from 1954!
Saturday, May 5, 2012 @ 4PM - Free

Fish Story - I don't know this one, but apparently it's 2012, and a colossal meteor is going to crash into the Earth in a few hours causing tidal waves that will destroy humanity. Sounds uplifting. Hey! 2012! That's this year!
Saturday, May 5, 2012 @ 6:30PM - Free

This poster makes me want to attend!
Dances of Vice: Deco Japan & The Heart Of The Modern Girl - featuring New York City's #1 promoter of anachronistic (not of this era) parties, the Dances of Vice, who along with The Art Deco Society of New York will offer up an evening with the Modern Girl (Moga) and her "kaleidoscopic world of dancing, drinking and late night revelry."
Saturday, May 5, 2012 @ 7PM - You have to buy tickets!

Kodomo no hi - a celebration of Japan's Children's Day with a theater performance that introduces classic Japanese stories featuring Momotaro (Peach Boy) as well as festival-related song and dance.
Sunday, May 6, 2012 @ 2PM - Tickets must be purchased!

There's plenty to see and even more to do at the open house! Come on down and check it out for yourself!
